Personal Training for Long-Term Health Conditions

Exercise that works with your health and not against it
If you're living with a long-term health condition, starting or returning to exercise can feel complicated.

You may be worried about:

Making your symptoms worse
Doing too much
Doing the wrong type of exercise
Feeling exhausted
Falling or losing your balance
Not being "fit enough"
Exercising around medication or treatment
Knowing what is safe
Exercise that works with your health and not against it
I create individualised exercise programmes based on your health, ability, experience and goals.

Specialist support for a range of conditions

Cardiac Conditions

Exercise following a cardiac diagnosis or event can feel daunting. My specialist cardiac rehabilitation experience allows exercise to be adapted around your individual circumstances, helping you gradually build strength, cardiovascular fitness, confidence, exercise tolerance and physical capacity.

Cancer Rehabilitation

Cancer treatment can affect strength, fitness, energy levels, mobility and confidence. Exercise can form an important part of rebuilding physical capacity during and after treatment where appropriate. Your programme can be adapted around fatigue, treatment effects, recovery and how you're feeling on the day.

Respiratory Conditions

Breathlessness can make people afraid to exercise.
Specialist exercise support can help you gradually build confidence and physical capacity while working within your individual limitations. Support may be appropriate for people living with COPD, asthma and other long-term respiratory difficulties.

Neurological Conditions

Neurological conditions can affect movement, balance, coordination, strength and confidence.
Exercise can be adapted to your individual presentation and goals, with a focus on maintaining or improving strength, mobility, balance, function and independence.

Falls Prevention

If you've experienced a fall or are worried about falling, losing confidence can sometimes lead to doing less. Doing less can then contribute to further loss of strength and physical capacity. My approach focuses on strength, balance, coordination, mobility and confidence to help you remain active and independent.

Obesity & Type 2 Diabetes

Exercise doesn't have to be about weight loss. My focus is on helping you become stronger, fitter and more physically capable, while developing sustainable habits that fit your life. This can include support for people living with obesity, type 2 diabetes and people using weight-management medication.

What makes my approach different?

I don't start with:
"What exercise should everyone be doing?"
I start with:
"What does this person need?"
Your programme is developed around your:
Health → Ability → Confidence → Goals → Lifestyle
And it can change as you change.

Not sure whether specialist personal training is right for you?
