WHAT IS HYPNOTHERAPY?

Hypnotherapy Shrewsbury

At Snowdrop House our goal is to help our hypnotherapy clients, in and around Shrewsbury, to make effortless changes to their lives.

What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is a complementary therapy that uses the power of positive suggestion to help to bring about change. It's very difficult to change our behaviour if we don't first look at the thoughts and feelings behind our behaviour, and hypnotherapy can help to tackle some of the subconscious thoughts and beliefs that influence our behaviours, habits and phobias.  Hypnotherapy is nothing new – it has been around for more than 6,000 years and has been used by a large number of cultures and civilisations including the Ancient Egyptians and Ancient Greeks.

What can hypnotherapy help with?

Hypnotherapy can help with a range of problems and challenges including:

Phobias and fears
Anxiety and panic attacks
Giving up smoking
PTSD and trauma
Anorexia, Bulimia and eating disorders
OCD
Insomnia and sleep problems
Low self esteem and self confidence
Public speaking

Is Hypnotherapy Safe?

Yes! There is nothing mysterious or magical about hypnotherapy. It's simply a state of consciousness where your mind is relaxed and your awareness is heightened, enabling a trained hypnotherapist to make appropriate suggestions to your unconscious mind. You will stay in control at all times during hypnotherapy and can bring yourself out of the relaxed state whenever you need to.

Why Use Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is now widely used to treat a range of conditions and to help people break habits or tackle phobias. It can enable you to resolve longstanding issues or recover from trauma, without any of the potential side effects you might experience with traditionally prescribed medicines.

The treatment is gaining in popularity and the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) has now recognised hypnotherapy as a suitable treatment for Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS).

It can be used as a standalone treatment or used alongside conventional medicine or other complementary therapies.

Quit Smoking

If you're ready to quit smoking, then hypnotherapy is a quick and painless way to end your habit for good. However long you have been smoking for, hypnotherapy can help you to ditch the cigarettes and move forward into a healthier lifestyle.  You may have tried to quit before, without success, but that doesn't mean that you can't defeat the habit this time. As well as helping you to quit, our hypnotherapy sessions focus on ensuring that you remain a non-smoker for life.

Why do you smoke?

We look at the underlying reasons why you smoke so that we can deal with these and aim to ensure that you are never driven to return to smoking in the future.

Making it easy to quit

Most of our clients are surprised by how easy it is to quit smoking using hypnotherapy. Are you ready to quit smoking for good?

PTSD and Trauma

Many of us are carrying around psychological wounds or trauma that have an impact on our lives. If you're suffering from the effects of trauma, or perhaps you're concerned about a friend or family member, then rest assured that hypnotherapy can help you or those you love to overcome trauma and move on with life.

What is Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder?

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is an anxiety disorder caused by disturbing, frightening or stressful events. It can occur immediately, or may not show itself until some time after the event. Sufferers will often relive the traumatic experience in nightmares and flashbacks.

Other symptoms of PTSD can include feeling isolated, feeling guilty, being irritable, being unable to concentrate and finding it difficult to sleep. Physical symptoms include headaches, cold sweats and nausea.

What types of events cause PTSD?

Post-traumatic stress disorder can be caused by:
Serious road accidents
Violent assaults such as mugging, robbery or sexual assault
Sexual abuse, violence or severe neglect
Abusive relationships
Witnessing violent deaths
Military combat
Being held hostage
Terrorist attacks
Natural disasters such as serious flooding, tsunamis or earthquakes.

Hypnotherapy and PTSD

Trauma can have an extremely negative impact on your life – damaging relationships and affecting your work. Working with a hypnotherapist can help to break the link between the event and the present day, helping you to let go of the past and freeing you from the frightening flashbacks and other symptoms of PTSD.

By accessing and treating the subconscious mind through hypnotherapy, we can effectively treat the symptoms of PTSD, as well as dealing with the underlying causes. We can help you to identify triggers so that you can gradually reduce your reaction to the triggers and gain more control in your day-to-day life.

If you suspect that you or someone you love is suffering from PTSD, please get in touch to find out how we can help by calling 07807 991251 or emailing info@snowdrophouse.co.uk

Client Testimonial

"I was suffering from mild post-traumatic stress disorder"

"Christina's Hypnotherapy service helped me overcome a traumatic experience after my house was broken into where vandalism was caused by my neighbour. The whole experience left me feeling very unsettled and anxious to the point where I did not feel safe sleeping in my own bed at night.

For two weeks I spent nights sleeping on the sofa with a baseball bat by my side for security. I felt very unsettled to the point where any noise I heard would wake me and put me in a state of alert making me feel very stressed and anxious.

In my first session with Christina she identified after sharing the experience with her that I was suffering from some mild post-traumatic stress disorder. Christina was very knowledgeable of the subject and carried out the consultation in a caring, friendly and professional manner.

Christina explained how she could help me gain control of my emotions and anxiety. After each session with Christina I started to feel much better and felt more in control. After the third session I felt like all the anxiety had been lifted off my shoulders and I was back sleeping in my own bed and feeling more in control and settled again.

I cannot thank Christina enough and I would not hesitate to recommend her Hypnotherapy service to all my friends and family.

Thanks again Christina for helping me get over this difficult time."
